Chan Chong Hin

We were greatly saddened to hear that on 19th January 2010, Chan Chong Hin of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia passed away at the age of 66. He was a long time enthusiast of the qin, who after retirement had devoted his life to qin playing and research. He wrote many papers about the qin, with a special focus on the qin pieces Shi Tan Zhang and Puan Zou. An English translation of one of his papers on these pieces is available at the following link:

In December 2006, he attended a meeting of the London Youlan Qin Society and gave a talk on the state of the qin in Malaysia. He had many friends in the London Youlan Qin Society, and was always willing to help other qin enthusiasts. He will be greatly missed.
