This, the 27th meeting of the London Youlan Qin Society, was held at the home of Sarah Moyse in southwest London.

Introduction

This yaji was held to coincide with a visit to London by Lin Youren and his daughter Lin Chen. This visit was a part of their European tour, and was funded in part by the London Youlan Qin Society. On Saturday 5th May, they gave a marvellous qin recital at SOAS, which was very well attended and greatly appreciated. Lin Youren is a very well known and respected qin master. Lin Chen is a music researcher at the Arts Research Institute in Beijing. She learned qin initially from her father, and later from Yao Gongbai and Wu Wenguang.

The following music was played:
  1. Tian Lai 天籁 (Sounds of Nature), played by Julian Joseph. His interpretation of this original composition from the Shiyi Xian Guan Qinpu 十一弦馆琴谱, published in 1907. *
  2. Qiu Shui 秋水 (Autumn Water) Played by Charlie Huang *
  3. Ao Ai 欸乃 (The Creak of an Oar), played by Chen Jinwei. *
  4. Yi Guren 亿故人 (Memories of an Old Friend), played by Christopher Evans *
  5. You Lan 幽兰 (The Solitary Orchid), played by Dan Nung Ing, based on Guan Pinghu's version. *
  6. Kongzi Du Yi 孔子读易 (Confucius Reading the Book of Changes), played by Sarah Moyse. As learned from Zeng Cheng Wei.  %
  7. Guangling San 广 陵散, played by Marnix Wells. The first part of the version in Shenqi Mipu 神奇秘谱 (1425). *
  8. Liu Shui 流水 (Flowing Waters), played by Lin Youren. #
  9. Qu Yuan Wen Du 屈原问渡 (Qu Yuan Asks the Ferryman), played by Lin Chen. #
