Meeting 8 July 2017



Introduction

This, the 89th meeting of the London Youlan Qin Society, was held in the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Music

The following music was played:

  1. Qiu Shui 秋水 (Autumn Water), played by Charles Tsua
  2. Guangling San Xin Pu 广陵散新谱 (New Score for Guangling San), played by Julian Joseph, from the Shiyi Xian Guan Qinpu, 1907.
  3. Shen Ren Chang 神人畅 (Harmony of Gods and Men), played by Shi Ronghui
  4. Ao Ai 欸乃 (The Boatman's Song), played by Cen Yan
  5. Xian Weng Cao 仙翁 (Song of the Old Man), played by Wang Jing
  6. Hua Die 化蝶 (Metamorphosis of the Butterfly), played by Charles Tsua. Own dapu from the Tian Wen Ge Qinpu; different from Zhuangzhou Meng Die and others with similar titles, but on a similar theme. Charles played the first 12 sections.
  7. Yi Guren 忆故人 (Thinking of an Old Friend), played by Jenny Zhao (qin) and Dennis Lee (xiao)
  8. Ping Sha Luo Yan 平沙落雁 (Wild Geese Descending on the Sandbank), played by Julian Joseph
  9. Guangling San 广陵散 (Guangling San), prelude, played by Marnix Wells
  10. Pei Lan 佩兰 (Admiring the Orchids), played by Charles Tsua
  11. Qiu Ye Du Yi 秋夜读易 (Reading the Book of Changes in the Autumn), played by Qiu Ronghui
  12. Geng Shen Diao Wei 耕莘釣渭 (Farming and Fishing), played by Cen Yan, score by the Daoist nun Xu Tongxia
  13. Zui Yu Chang Wan 醉渔场晚 (Evening Song of the Drunken Fishermen), played by Cen Yan
  14. He Ming Jiu Gao 鹤鸣九皋 (Cranes Calling in the Nine Marshes), played by Charles Tsua, own interpretation from Shenqi Mipu
